Dr. M. taught me in college, then each of my daughters. He wrote to me about Gillian’s brilliance and insight, and said, “I love her, too.” He came to her memorial; his goodbye hug imprinted my necklace on my chest.

How could she have been anything other than brilliant and beautiful and insightful when that's what she came from?
He had a deep feeling to communicate. "Imprinted" . Must have been comforting to have the evidence of that strong sense of love for her.
